How to Configure Inter Cluster Trunking (ICT) with Gatekeeper in CallManager 6 , 7 and 8?
Four different methods of trunking:
1. H.225 trunking with Gatekeeper
This trunking is used if one side cluster is using Ver 3.0 or Latest CUCM and other side is having Ver 6.0, 7 and 8 CUCM.
2. Inter Cluster Trunking with Gatekeeper
This trunking is used if one side cluster is using Ver 3.0 or older CUCM while other side is having Ver 6.0, 7 and 8 CUCM.
3. Inter Cluster Trunking without Gatekeeper
If there is no Gatekeeper and both sides can use any version of CUCM then this option is better to select. It is also known as Peer-to-Peer trunking.
4. SIP Trunking
If one side is using CUCM and other side is having SIP server or any other vendor then SIP trunking is used..
H.225 trunking with Gatekeeper
Configuration:
Step 1: (Complete Routing on both Gateways)
Step 2: (Complete Routing on Gatekeeper)
# router rip
# network 192.168.10.0
Step 3: (CM1 Configuration)
- Cisco Unified CM Administration -> Device -> Gatekeeper -> Add New -> Host Name / IP Address = 192.168.10.30 -> Save
- Device -> Trunk -> Add New -> Trunk Type = “H.225 Trunk (Gatekeeper Controlled)” -> Device Protocol = “H.225” -> next -> Device Name =”ICT-TRUNK-1” -> Device pool = “Default”.
- Gatekeeper Information -> Gatekeeper Name = “192.168.10.30” -> Terminal Type = “Gateway” -> Technology Prefix = 1# -> Zone = Site1 -> Save -> Reset
o Technology Prefix = CM1 is considered as SITE1 and DNs on in SITE-1 are starting from 1 i.e. 1001
Step 4: (Define Route Pattern)
- Cisco Unified CM Administration -> Call Routing -> Route/Hunt -> Route Pattern -> Add New -> Route Pattern “9.XXX” -> Select gateway = “ICT-TRUNK-1” -> Called Party Transformation = PreDot -> Save
Step 5: (CM2 Configuration)
- Cisco Unified CM Administration -> Device -> Gatekeeper -> Add New -> Host Name / IP Address = 192.168.10.30 -> Save
- Device -> Trunk -> Add New -> Trunk Type = “H.225 Trunk (Gatekeeper Controlled)” -> Device Protocol = “H.225” -> next -> Device Name =”ICT—TRUNK-2” -> Device pool = “Default”.
- Gatekeeper Information -> Gatekeeper Name = “192.168.10.30” -> Terminal Type = “Gateway” -> Technology Prefix = 2# -> Zone = Site2 -> Save -> Reset
Step 6: (Define Route Pattern)
- Cisco Unified CM Administration -> Call Routing -> Route/Hunt -> Route Pattern -> Add New -> Route Pattern “9.XXX” -> Select gateway = “ICT—TRUNK-2” -> Called Party Transformation = PreDot -> Save
Step 7: (Gatekeeper Configuration)
# gatekeeper
# zone local site1 cisco.com 192.168.10.30
# zone local site2 cisco.com 192.168.10.30
# zone prefix site1 1…
# zone prefix site2 2…
# gw-type-prefix 1#* default-technology
# no shut
# show gatekeeper endpoints
# show gatekeeper calls
# zone bw site2 128 [Applying CAC through GK] *bw=Bandwidth *128=128k limit for site2
