CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)
The Cisco CCIE certification is a biggie - 4 different tracks to choose from; Routing and Switching, Communications and Services, Security, and Voice. I'm heading down the 'Security' track, so here's a list of free resources that I've located for this exam, and the other tracks also. Many of the links have crossovers into the other CCIE tracks so they're worth checking out.
These links are by no means comprehensive (I'm focusing on a different exam right now which is taking up all of my time), but I'll post up any good material or study aide links as I come across them - and if I ever get the time, I'll split this page up into the 4 different categories.
Studying for this exam is going to be a very individual thing. As you'll know if you're preparing for the CCIE there is both a written test and a hands-on lab that you'll need to pass. This means that just knowing the theory isn't going to be enough - unlike many other certifications.
In my view this is going to make it extremely difficult for those people who don't have access to the hardware required to practice on but at least it ensures the quality of the certification is high which can only be good for those who gain the certification. If you can get access to the equipment that you need then you have a good head start (check the overview links in the 'General Information' category below - each overview has the equipment you'd ideally need access to). At the very least you'll need a good book or three.
More than one will certainly help as it gives you the chance to cross-reference, but they aren't the cheapest things to buy. Recommended reading: I'm using the 'Cisco CCIE Guide' (if you're in the market for a book then go to Amazon and get it second hand - you'll save yourself a bundle). This book seems to cover the main topics but never rely on just one source of information when studying for any particular exam.
Hopefully the links below will provide you with some good sources of CCIE information, but don't forget to check out the other Cisco pages on this site as many of the resources can be used for more than one certification track. Some CCIE practice exams and CCIE demo questions to help you prepare for the real exam. Obviously, some are better than others, but if you want to master this subject, particularly the written exams, then the more questions you can do and pass comfortably then the better you'll be.
You can't ever do too many practice questions as far as I'm concerned. For some of the links you have to register for first, but taking 10 mins to set up an internet e-mail address should take care of that.
